Jeff Wiener

Hi, I'm Jeff Wiener. The short version: I started a telecom company in Toronto in 1991 with almost nothing, ran it for 27 years, and sold it to a private equity firm in 2017. Since then I have been working out the part nobody warns you about, which is what happens after you finally get the thing you spent your whole life chasing.

What I actually did

• Ran one company for 27 years and grew it into an eight-figure business.
• From year three on, 288 straight months of positive cash flow. In 27 years, revenue fell year over year exactly once.
• Named one of Canada's fastest-growing companies five years running.
• Sold to a private equity firm in 2017 and semi-retired at 49.
• Built an asset-allocation approach I still run today, now mostly in multi-family real estate.

What I write about now

I thought selling the company was the finish line. It was not. I kept chasing, watched peers who caught much bigger fish than I did do the same, and then had a heart attack that reordered my priorities in a single day: health, then family and friends, then wealth, after a lifetime of running them in the opposite order. I am still building, still investing, and now I write the honest version of all of it down, in case you are chasing something too.
